Carrie's Fave Family Days Out!

I am constantly trying to find new places to take my son, Kian, for a day out. We’re sick of the same local walks which we’ve been doing for the last year. Now that we’re all no longer grounded, I thought I would write our favourite places in Scotland incase there is anyone else struggling for ideas.

  1. Landmark - this is definitely worth the long drive up to Aviemore. There is something for all ages and you can easily spend the whole day there. We can’t wait to go back
  2. Five sisters zoo - loved this place. Okay, yeah it’s a bit run down and could do with a bit of tlc. However it’s a family run zoo, all the workers are so friendly. There are a wide range of animals to see and some good little rides for younger kids too.
  3. Cairnie Fruit Farm - Kian loves visiting cairnie. It’s in an open field with trampolines and a number of homemade rides. The adults may get bored after a couple of hours as it’s not something you can walk around but more to go and let the kids play.
  4. Lochore Meadows Country Park - there is a great big park for the kids to play in and amazing views over the loch. There’s even a little fairy wood which Kian loved. There are loads of bicycle trails and a few decent walks. There’s also a nice wee cafe there.
  5. Cambo Estate - Cambo is a wee hidden gem. My son loves going for a walk through the fairy trail forest to look for the fairy houses. The grounds are stunning and I’d recommend going for a visit during the snowdrop season. They also have a number of piglets you can visit which is an added bonus.
  6. Blair Drummond Safari Park - LOVE this place. You really do need the whole day as there is so much to see and do. From animals, small rides, pedal boats, flying fox and a huge play park - what’s not to love?
