2020 Round Up & Looking Forward to 2021

Well… What. A Year.

It’s been insane. We’ve survived a national lockdown. We released a single, we released our debut EP, we introduced a new member to the band. I think this has to be our most non-eventful, yet somehow most eventful year yet, if that’s even possible?!

Where do we even start?

2020 started off with fairly normal and humble beginnings. We were getting prepared for releasing our debut Burnin’ Up EP and we were on track for release in April. We were going ahead with our usual band practices, spending time in the studio and things were moving along nicely. We were also thrilled to release our single 'Destiny' in January which we were pleased went down really well.

In February, we were absolutely delighted to receive a message from a guy called Daniel from Edinburgh, expressing his interest in joining the band! We thought it was too good to be true when he sent over examples of his playing. It sounded absolutely amazing and we figured that a keys player was the final piece of our puzzle. We were super excited and couldn’t wait to start jamming with him.

Little did we know, however, that literally a couple of weeks later, we would be in the midst of an international pandemic from the new Covid-19, which stopped everything in it's tracks and almost made us feel like the world stopped spinning.

Then, we went into lockdown. Things started getting weird. We had to start arranging band zoom calls to discuss our businesses and started doing zoom quizzes too to boost our morale!

Despite not being able to leave our houses, however, there was still a lot of work to be done. The coming months were busy; we ended up taking part in a series of digital gigs, livestreams and releasing some isolation videos. As part of our planning for our EP, we decided that our brand needed a bit of a shake up and were began to work with Warriors studio in Glasgow. We decided that we wanted our brand to reflect our music which is vibrant, positive and engaging! After many zoom calls and discussions, they came back with a final recommendation, which we thought looked absolutely amazing! A fresh, funky new look which we think completely encapsulates our music and ethos.

The coming months after that involved us filming our music video for Burnin’ Up and then finally getting everything released! We were absolutely delighted with the reception of the EP and it was far better than we imagined. (To learn more about the EP and look at some of the exposure it received, check out our previous blog.)

Lockdown certainly had it’s set of challenges, however, for us, it might be said it was a blessing in disguise. It gave Daniel a great opportunity to learn our back catalogue of music and it also gave us time to write loads of new tunes. We can’t wait to properly jam them all out and hopefully, the next time you see us live we’ll have LOADS of brand new material.

Although we’re a bit hesitant to put solid plans in place for 2021, we know that if one thing is for certain, we want to get some more new music out there.  We are currently planning for our next release which is likely to be another 5 track EP so stay tuned for that.

In the meantime, we’ll do our best to keep posting content on the regular and keeping you all updated with the fun stuff we’re up to. It’s been a strange old year but we feel like we’ve achieved a lot. We’re feeling really optimistic and we’re excited to get working on all of our plans for the future. We hope that 2021 brings you all only the very best.
