I hope you're all well and enjoying getting back to some kind of normality after all of the lockdown madness. It's now really great to see things starting to open up again and go back to some sort of normal life.
The lockdown has been difficult for sure, however, we've been lucky enough to have had plenty to keep us going when we've been working in isolation, from live streams, band quizzes and songwriting. We've been super productive over the last few months and I'd just like to take an opportunity to touch base and let you all know what we've been up to.
At the start of the lockdown, we wrote, recorded and mixed a brand new song called 'Eden' which we wrote for the Scottish Natural Heritage 'In Tune with Nature' competition in which applicants were asked to write a piece of music about one of Scotland's nature reserves. This tune was certainly a challenge, as with no access to the studio, all parts had to be recorded at home!
'Eden' is about Tentsmuir Forest, it's natural beauty and the effect that climate change is having on Scotland's coasts and waters. The song is quite an emotional ballad, so quite different from our usual upbeat style! We didn't win the competition, however, we were really glad to take part and the winning entries were amazing. Once the time is right, we look forward to sharing the track with you.
We've also been working on finalising some new tracks which I won't go into too much detail about at the moment, however, I've certainly had a lot of fun and laughs writing about some more light-hearted topics; such as using dating apps and even taking on the persona of a gold digger!
We've had the opportunity to experiment over the past few months and we've introduced some new elements into our set which we're really excited about, such as the addition to a few new effects pedals and instruments which we hope will spice things up a bit.
Fairly recently, we've even been able to get back into the studio to work on completing some of the tracks for our next EP. They sound great and are really starting to take shape. We also have a date in the diary now for our debut music video, how exciting!
On top of that, we're in the process of going through a re-brand and we have lots of really cool stuff and announcements which we'll share in due course. We can't wait until we're able to get back to gigging, whenever this may be, who knows, maybe our next gig will be a drive-in event?!
