Happy New Year: 2019 Round Up // 2020 Plans

Happy New Year!

Wow! It’s safe to say that 2019 has been a fabulously FUNK-TASTIC year for us.

Throughout the year, we were kept hugely busy with recording, writing, filming, planning, jamming, gigging, grooving and having absolutely loads of fun. Now we’ve had time to enjoy our festive break, indulge in FAR too many mince pies and recover from our hangovers, we’re ready to jump right back in and start planning our year ahead.

As there is so much worth mentioning, we wanted to write this post to give you a round-up of some of our 2019 highlights before letting you in on what our plans are for 2020.

2019 Highlights

First of all, we were absolutely delighted to release our very first debut single, ‘(Your Love Makes Me) Happy’ with a bonus track ‘I Was Wrong’ back in May. We recorded and mixed these two tracks ourselves and we were pleased to receive some wonderful feedback including features on radio stations and music podcasts such as Nick Keir’s ‘Funk Soul Archive’ on Wycombe Sound and Ross Sutherland’s ‘Souled Down South’ for Channel Radio.

2019 was a great year for gigs. We were invited by the incredible Supa & Da Kryptonites to guest on their residency night at Stramash in Edinburgh - this was our first gig in the capital and we were pleased that the audience didn’t hesitate to get on the floor for a dance.  We were honoured to be included on the Outwith Festival bill which included major acts such as Idlewild, Honeyblood, William McCarthy and some of Fife’s very best local talent including the fantastic Dancing on Tables and Oskar Braves. We also had the privilege to headline a number of gigs including PJ Molloy’s, Aberdour Festival, a packed-out gig in Anstruther and The Greenside in Leslie.

We launched this blog which has been read a whopping 470 times. We shared some live videos with you all through our YouTube channels and social media and we’re truly humbled that our live videos have had a total of 8.2k views!

Due to our huge backlog of ideas, we agreed to knuckle down and focus on developing some fresh tunes over the winter months, so you can certainly expect some new additions to our set this year. Finally, we decided to start recording some of our more popular songs at Gracenote Studios and we are absolutely thrilled with how they are sounding!

2020 Plans

Looking forward, we can’t wait to share our new tracks with you and we already have a few gigs in the pipeline; we look forward to sharing the details with you shortly.

Since forming the band in September 2018, we have worked hard to get to where we are now and we are pleased that we now have a full 2-hour set of completely original material! We’re now feeling super motivated to ramp things up and build on what we’ve achieved so far.

We feel that we still have a lot of work to do but we will continue to work tirelessly to make sure that we will deliver some of the BEST fabulously-funky new music of not only Fife, but Scotland!! We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.

Thank you all so much for your continued support and words of encouragement. We wish each and every one of you all of the best for the New Year and hope to see you soon.

The Passing Sages x
